[Webinar] Language Matters: A Conversation on Words and Impact

Join us for an important and thoughtful conversation about how language matters within the permanency community. Words shape how we understand ourselves, our families, and our experiences—and the language we use can either build connection or unintentionally cause harm.

About the speakers

Interwoven Connections’ own Tracy Moisan and Tanya Eichler will be joined by Mary Byrnes from Harrison’s Hope, an esteemed mental health professional with a unique perspective as an adoptee, and Seth Compton from OUTLoud North Bay; author, advocate, mentor, and trans parent. This discussion explores how language impacts individuals and families connected to adoption, kinship, and customary care, as well as those within the neurodiverse and 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Together, we’ll reflect on the power of words, share lived experiences, and discuss ways we can all be more mindful and supportive in the language we use every day. This conversation welcomes caregivers, professionals, and community members who want to learn, listen, and grow together.

Please Note: Participation in this webinar is open to the public. Caregivers, professionals, and family members may attend, and registration with the Interwoven Connections Peer to Peer Support Network is not required.
