Adoption & Kinship Support Groups
Our caregiving journeys are different— but we can all agree none should be walked alone.
Our support groups range from province-wide online reoccurring sessions to in-person meet ups. Special regional gatherings and educational events alike can also be found under our Events calendar. Prospective Parents & Caregivers
Are you exploring adoption, kinship, customary care at the beginning stages of your journey? Maybe you’re Adopt Ready and taking it to the next step in forming your family. Join us monthly to ask questions, share your wins and struggles and connect!
Meetings occur on the 4th Wednesday of each month, 7:00PM.
AFCCA peer-led
For families experiencing Aggression toward Family/Caregivers in Childhood & Adolescence (AFCCA), this monthly, peer-facilitated support group provides a virtual safe space in an understanding peer community.
The daytime group runs on the 4th Tuesday of each month, from 11:30am-1pm.
Meetings for the evening group occur on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, from 8-9:30pm
Ages and Stages

Events occur on the 3rd Thursday of each month, from 8-9PM. Some topics may explore early childhood development, separation challenges, sleep challenges and everything pertaining to children who are chronologically aged 0-5.

Events occur on the 1st Monday of each month, from 8-9PM. Discussions may include school, advocacy for your children, social and emotional challenges and more that children who are chronologically aged 6-9 may face.

Events occur on the 1st Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:30PM. Discussions may include puberty, social and emotional developments, navigating school and other challenges that children who are chronologically aged may encounter.

Events occur on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:30-8:30PM. Topics may include reaching independence, transitioning to adult services, risky behaviour, social emotional, school, money management and anything that this chronological and developmental age group and young adults may face.
Are you parenting a child with a chronological or developmental age of 0-19+? Join other parents and caregivers to share your experiences, and offer (as well as receive) support, encouragement & comfort from others on a similar adventure! Click on the age group you’re interested in to the right, to check out the topics of interest that may be included when we meet for support.
Kinship
Kinship includes family members, community members, individuals with close connections and relationships who are providing ongoing care. Are you supporting children or youth in their extended family? Our monthly support group provides a safe space for kinship caregivers to connect with others .
Meetings run every 2nd Thursday of each month from 12-1:30PM.
Living Out Loud:
A Space for 2SLGBTQI+ Caregivers
This support group is for caregivers who identify as 2SLGBTQI+, offering a safe, affirming space to share unique experiences of parenting while navigating identity, belonging, and safety. Topics include chosen family, extended family dynamics, responding to discrimination, travel considerations and inclusive family-building.
Meetings run every 4th Wednesday of every other month, from 12-1pm
Safe & Seen: Supporting Your 2SLGBTQI+ Child
This support group is for parents and caregivers of 2SLGBTQI+ children and youth, offering a welcoming space to connect with others who are committed to affirming and supporting their children. Together we'll explore topics such as navigating school and social settings, disclosure, gender-affirming care, family relationships, finding inclusive community opportunities, and creating safe, supportive environments where children and youth can thrive.
4th Wednesday of every other month, 8-9pm
Dad’s Zone
Dad’s Zone is a monthly, peer-led support group created by dads, for dads. Whether you’re an adoptive, kinship, or customary caregiver, this is a space to connect with others who understand the unique journey you’re on. Come as you are to share experiences, swap strategies, or just listen—no pressure, just real conversation and support.
Meetings occur on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, virtually from 7:30-8:30pm.
Single Parents
Our Single Parent Support Group meets monthly to provide a supportive space for single parents and caregivers to connect, share experiences, and discuss the everyday joys and challenges of parenting.
Meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 8:15pm.
Caregivers of Older Teens & Adults with FASD
Are you the parent/caregiver, kin, or customary caregiver to an adult aged 18+ who has or may have FASD? This monthly support and education group will cover the unique challenges faced by caregivers of adults with FASD. This group is free of charge and open to parents and caregivers of the Interwoven Connections community.
Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 12-1PM.
Nurturing Attachment
Attachment plays a central role in our social and emotional development, and every child or youth touched by permanency has experienced an attachment disruption. Join us as we acknowledge that loss, explore practical strategies to focus on and strengthen attachment.
Events occur every 3rd Tuesday of each month from 8:15-9:15PM.
Openness
Join us each month for a supportive discussion on openness in permanency relationships. This virtual group offers families a space to explore relationships, communication, boundaries, and lived experiences in openness.
Events occur every 1st Tuesday of each month at 8-9pm.
