Christie Esau
Christie (she/her) is an adoptee and adoptive mother to her son, who joined their family through international adoption. She and her family live, work, and play on unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin Anishinabek territory. Christie and her husband originally pursued domestic adoption and found Interwoven Connections while seeking information about the potential challenges their child might face. She is passionate about advocating for adoptees, especially those in transracial adoption. Christie first served on the Interwoven Connections Board as Secretary from late 2022 until mid-2025. She is a registered psychotherapist and works as a trauma counsellor at Carleton University in Ottawa, ON.
