Social Media Specialist (Part-time)

Purpose of Role:
The Social Media Specialist is responsible for managing Interwoven Connections’ social media presence, virtual communities, and online engagement. This role focuses on raising awareness of our events and deepening community understanding of our programs

How you’ll make an impact:
Manage and maintain Interwoven Connections’ social media platforms to enhance online visibility.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance engagement and awareness of community events and programs.
Create, curate, and schedule compelling content across multiple social media channels.
Design and distribute engaging monthly newsletters.
Leverage branding expertise to implement effective brand strategies (an asset).
Moderate content and facilitate discussions on equity-based issues, using an anti-oppressive/anti-racist framework.
Analyze social media metrics to refine content and engagement strategies.
Collaborate with team members to strengthen Interwoven Connections’ online and community presence.
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail.
Proficiency in social media platforms and relevant tools, including Instagram, Facebook, Squarespace, WordPress, Hootsuite, Monday, Slack, Teams, Canva, and Mailchimp.
Prior experience with Interwoven Connections communities is an asset.
Perform additional duties as required.
What makes you a great fit:
Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field, with a minimum of two years of relevant education and experience combined.
Experience working with grassroots nonprofits and managing social media for organizations.
Knowledge of adoption-related advocacy; lived experience as an adoptive, kinship, or customary care parent is an advantage.
Familiarity with the experiences of marginalized communities within the child welfare system.
Experience working with African Canadian and Indigenous children, youth, and families is highly desirable.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in French is an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Strong judgment, cultural sensitivity, and ethical integrity.
